Israel scores another major deal

This week, Palo Alto Networks purchased CyberArk, another Israeli company. The deal was priced at US$250 billion, one of the largest in the West Asian country's history. This humongous deal is intended to fill a major gap in Palo Alto Networks' portfolio by adding a leading identity security platform to its already broad cybersecurity stack. But more than that, it also makes the acquirer the largest company by market cap on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange. It'll be interesting to see how this pans out over the year, to be sure. Let's dive into the biggest deals and M&A that have recently taken place. -- Jonathan THE BIGGEST DEALS BY COUNTRY 🇮🇳 Based in India, Neysa offers general AI platforms and services. It has raised US$600 million in series B money from Blackstone, Teachers' Venture Growth, TVS Capital, 360 One Asset, and Nexus Venture Partners. 🇨🇳 Wuhan Weineng Battery Asset, a Chinese car battery rental service company, has secured US$143 million in series C money from Hainan Chengmai Investment, Haining Economic Development Industrial Park Development and Construction, Hefei Construction Investment Capital, and Hefei Economic and Technological Development Zone Angel Investment Fund. 🇯🇵 Not a Hotel is a Japan-based startup that sells villas. It has locked in US$48.3 million in debt funding from 18 financial institutions, as well as US$16.7 million in series C money from Minerva Growth Partners, Sequoia, Hillhouse Investment Management, and SuMi Trust Innovation Fund No. 2, among others. 🇦🇪 Origen, an AI startup headquartered in the United Arab Emirates, has received a US$50 million strategic investment from BlueFive Capital. 🇸🇦 Madfu is a buy now, pay later platform based in Saudi Arabia. It has raised US$25.5 million in pre-series A money from Afaq Capital. Here's the complete list of this week's funding chart: 72 deals worth over US$1.2 billion.
